Best Yogurt for Your Healthy Active Life

Ramadan Mubarak! It's that time of the year again; the holiest month for all Muslims in the world. I, myself, am fasting as usual every year and since it allows us to eat only at dawn and after sunset, I need to watch what I eat as well.

As I'm trying to lose weight while maintaining a healthy body as well, I'm constantly seeking for healthier choice of food and beverage. But yeah, you know it's kinda hard for me to keep up with the healthy living (all those early mornings cooking my own meal, buying those Granola, Quinoa, blablabla, etc.). I know it sounds like an excuse, but I do think that active and mobile generation like us need something quick and easy.

Yogurt is one of the best choices for your healthy life, especially the ready-to-drink one. So here, I'd like to share with you how to choose the healthy yogurt for your active life.

Yogurt is one of natural remedies since it contains natural ingredients that help to prevent us from getting sick. But not all yogurt is the same. That's why we should be careful and thorough when it comes to choosing the right, healthy yogurt. What are the characteristics of healthy yogurt?

Characteristics of Healthy Yogurt

  • Low Fat
  • Low Sugar
  • High Calcium
  • Contains Prebiotic
  • Contains right amount of sourness (#ASAMNYAPAS)
And as for me, since I'm an active and mobile person (or just lazy), I add one more characteristic; convenient.

This time I would like to compare my two favorite yogurts; Heavenly Blush and Cimory.

Both of these yogurts are my favorite and has been on my food staples for years (LOL). Let's compare them according to previous characteristics. I've chosen Heavenly Blush Tetra Pak and Cimory Bottle because it's relatively similar in terms of pricing, taste, and availability.

The price is relatively similar around Rp 8,000-10,000. Taste is also similar since it has various taste of fruit, though Heavenly Blush only has three. And last, you can find both products side-by-side in every supermarket and minimarket.

Strawberry VS Strawberry

  • Low Fat
Heavenly Blush wins as it contains 2g Total Fat while Cimory has 7g.
  • Low Sugar
Again, Heavenly Blush wins since it has only 11g of sugar, while Cimory has 20g more (31g).
  • High Calcium
Also, Heavenly Blush contains more calcium than Cimory (HB: 45%, Cimory: 20%).
  • Contains Prebiotic
Both of them contains prebiotic.
  • Contains right amount of sourness (#ASAMNYAPAS)
As for the sourness, I prefer Cimory. I personally think that Heavenly Blush taste is too sweet (but surprisingly contains lower sugar).
  • Convenient
As for packaging and durability, definitely Heavenly Blush wins. Its packaging is Tetra-pak which allows it to last longer. Moreover, storage is also easier as we can store it in room temperature. Cimory has bottle packaging which doesn't last that long, maximum 1 day and it has to be stored in refrigerator.

Blackcurrant VS Blueberry

  • Low Fat
Heavenly Blush wins as it contains 2g Total Fat while Cimory has 7g.
  • Low Sugar
Again, Heavenly Blush wins since it has only 11g of sugar, while Cimory has 19g more (31g).
  • High Calcium
Also, Heavenly Blush contains more calcium than Cimory (HB: 45%, Cimory: 20%).
  • Contains Prebiotic
Both of them contains prebiotic.
  • Contains right amount of sourness (#ASAMNYAPAS)
As for the sourness, I prefer Heavenly Blush. Unlike Strawberry, the Blackcurrant one has the perfect amount of sourness combined with sweetness. Meanwhile, Blueberry tastes too sour for me.
  • Convenient
Same as Strawberry, for packaging and durability Heavenly Blush still win. But as for the taste, though it's not apple to apple (Blackcurrant VS Blueberry), the taste is kinda similar after all. But as for the taste this time I prefer Heavenly Blush Blackcurrant.

Peach VS Lychee

  • Low Fat
Heavenly Blush wins as it contains 2g Total Fat while Cimory has 7g.
  • Low Sugar
Again, Heavenly Blush wins since it has only 11g of sugar, while Cimory has 21g more (33g).
  • High Calcium
Also, Heavenly Blush contains more calcium than Cimory (HB: 45%, Cimory: 20%).
  • Contains Prebiotic
Both of them contains prebiotic.
  • Contains right amount of sourness (#ASAMNYAPAS)
As for the sourness, I prefer Cimory. Lychee taste is the best out of all the yogurt that I've tried (between HB and Cimory).
  • Convenient
Yeah I know Heavenly Blush still win for packaging and durability. And I'm not going to talk about taste because yeah... It's Peach VS Lychee. They're just, completely different.

But what surprises me is that the amount of sugar in Cimory products vary depends on the taste.

Conclusion

To sum it up, in terms of nutrition, I definitely say that Heavenly Blush wins. It has lower fat and sugar, higher calcium percentage, and lower calorie (HB: 100 kcal, Cimory: 220-240kcal depends on taste).

Also, the Tetra-pak packaging is a plus point for Heavenly Blush since it allows it to be more durable and easier to be consumed.

As for #ASAMNYAPAS (right amount of sourness), if I have to compare based on tastebud yes, Heavenly Blush is not that sour.

But, in terms of my own preference, I love Cimory better. Though it's sour, even more than Heavenly Blush, I think that's the identity of yogurt. Yogurt is identical with sourness, so if it lose that identity then it is no longer yogurt for me. I also honestly have no problem with my gastric after drinking this so don't worry!

What do you think? Which one is your favorite yogurt?
