LOCAL BRAND ALERT! Yes, I will review Indonesian local beauty brand; Freya! Well, I'm a proud Indonesian after all. Freya kindly sent me these 4 lipsticks to be reviewed. Let's see!
There are 4 shades given; from left to right on the picture above are Sweet Mocha, Passion Red, Frosty Orange, and Frosty Pink.
FREYA NUTRI LIPSTICK 4gLong wearing lip color with impeccable shades. With mild formula that glides on smooth, coat your lips with exquisite color and radiant shine.+ Shea Butter + Vitamin Derivative (A, C, and E)Smooth and nourish lips.+ UV FilterProtect from sun's damaging UVA and UVB rays.+ Natural MoisturizerMaintain lips moisture balance.
This lipstick comes in metallic maroon color, adding elegant feature which I love. The packaging is also sturdy, with the twist cap. I am impressed with the cap, because most of affordable, low-end lipstick usually have poor packaging. But Freya Nutri Lipstick has very good packaging! Moreover, brand new lipstick comes with safety plastic seal. Safety? Check!
By the way, the price for a Nutri Lipstick is Rp 33.000 (HET) or equals to USD 3.37, so affordable right?
Looking at the top ingredients, I can say that this lipstick is made of mostly wax.
- Ozokerite: Mineral wax made from coal and shale. The safety of Ozokerite has been assessed by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel. And it has stated safe for use in cosmetics and personal care products. Ozokerites thicken oil portion of cosmetics and help keep emulsions from separating into oil and liquid components. It also lessen the brittleness of stick products and add strength and stability to lipsticks.
- Copernicia Cerifera Wax: Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, also called Carnauba Wax, is obtained from the leaves of the Brazilian tropical palm tree, Copernicia cerifera, and Rhus Succedanea Fruit Wax, also called Japan Wax, is obtained from the berries of the sumac Rhus succedanea, which grows in Japan and China.
- Euphorbia Cerifera Wax: Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, also called Candelilla Wax, is obtained from the plant Euphorbia cerifera, which is a plant that grows in North Central Mexico and the Texas Big Bend area.
This lipstick has nice scent, unfortunately it's a little bit too much for a lipstick, for me.
Let's see the swatches!
This lipstick has satin and frosty finish. For the shade with 'frosty' in it, the finish can be expected to be frosty of course. While the other two has cream/ satin finish.
And here is the swatch on my lips!
As you can see, Passion Red has satin-to-glossy finish. Which is why my favorite shade out of 4 is Passion Red!
As for frosty shades, well, to be honest, I am never a fan of frosty or shimmery finish. It just ruins my face instantly. Err... So, I might be biased on these. But, the Frosty Pink turned out really nice since it looks like second lips. With a bit metallic and shiny finish. LOL. And, for Frosty Orange, I recommend you to use this with glamour or smoky eyes because it will neutralize it. I happened to wear this shade while having minimal make up and everyone said that I look pale and sick! So, put on glam eyes with this shade.
And the other shade; Sweet Mocha. Well, I underestimate this shade at first (after swatch on hand). After put it on my lips, this shade might be my dupe for Revlon Superlustrous Almost Nude 117! It looks the same, only Revlon has more peachy hint of color, while this is more brownish.
As for staying power, it's pretty impressive for the price. Yes, never underestimate Indonesian local brand and its affordability! This lipstick stays for 5-6 hours on my lips with eating and drinking (but no oil please). If you happen to consume anything with oil, the staying power might lessen down to 3 hours only.
So, the verdict is I like this lipstick. This brand may be my favorite local brand so far because I rarely try the local beauty brand. :)
